Time Commanders: The battle of Watling Street 6/6

November 3rd, 2011 Tess 25 comments

Time Commanders is a series of programmes made by Lion TV for BBC Two that ran for two seasons from 2003 to 2005. It uses an edited version of the game engine behind the real-time strategy game Rome: Total War by the Creative Assembly to recreate famous battles of the ancient world. The battles are replayed by 4-player teams from diverse backgrounds. The teams are unfamiliar with computer games, to make sure their gaming skills do not influence their success. After a brief introduction of the battle, including an overview of military units, terrain and available forces, the players have to develop a strategy and then deploy their forces. Two of the players are selected as generals, who will direct the battle and have access to a strategic map. The other two players are designated lieutenants, the units are indirectly controlled by the lieutenants, who issue commands to program assistants, who in turn use the game interface to control the units.

Star Wars Empire At War [PC] Gameplay

September 29th, 2011 Tess No comments

Star Wars: Empire at War is a 2006 real-time strategy (RTS) game developed by Petroglyph Games and published by LucasArts. Set between Episode III and Episode IV, it focuses on the fledgling struggle between the Empire and the Rebels. It uses Petroglyph’s game engine Alamo. The most recent patch was released on July 20, 2006. In October 2006, an expansion entitled Star Wars: Empire at War: Forces of Corruption was released. ______________________________________ Computer Specifications: 8GB’s of RAM 1TB Hard Drive ATI Radeon HD 6450 (512 MB’S) Intel Core i5 2.70 Ghz __________________________ This game is really bad with my opinion. I’ve been playing it for a couple of years. And the battles with ground units are really uneven. At 4:20 you’ll noticed that all my vehicles(50 of them) died by 3 defense turrets. The AT-AT’s barely survive anything. Stormtroopers are useless. And you can’t organize any of the bases. The game itself is so biased. I hate it, which is why I used Hacks & Cheat Codes =P (By the way, I still play the game because it’s “STAR WARS”) But the statstics of each character is very unstable. It literally took me almost 3 hours to beat Hoth with the easiest computer to challenge.
